HouseLift, a home remodeling show airing on the Discovery Home Channel, offered a brand new perspective on a major home renovation -- the homeowner's. Paul Hochman, his wife Tricia and their two children experience the fun, excitement, terror and tribulations every homeowner faces when adding a new addition. Each show features a key conflict and lots of learning for those considering a foray into this expensive, but ultimately rewarding, territory.
The new addition not only affected the interior of the home it also had a major impact on the exterior. Challenges related to site drainage and on-site circulation needed to be resolved but more importantly, the addition created opportunities to enrich the property with attractive and functional outdoor spaces. Alan Saucier was engaged to assist the couple with the development of a Landscape Master Plan that addressed technical issues such as site drainage and circulation but also provided guidance with regard to the design of a raised bluestone terrace and new walkways. In addition, the master plan inspired the design of an elegant garden defined by hedges and perennial gardens. Look for Alan, especially in episodes 1 and 2!
