Bishop Guertin High School
Nashua, New Hampshire
Bishop Guertin is a parochial high school in Nashua, New Hampshire. Built in the early sixties, little had been done to improve campus open space or accommodate the ever-changing needs of the growing numbers of faculty and students. Saucier + Flynn was commissioned to develop a master plan that created a number of aesthetically pleasing and functional outdoor spaces and improved pedestrian circulation throughout the campus.
The resulting master plan recommended the development of a formal arrival court, a sports plaza, a contemplative chapel garden and general improvements to the streetscape planting and campus landscape. By slightly reorganizing the existing parking, Saucier + Flynn was able to create a safe and efficient campus pedestrian circulation system that connected the parking lot, campus open spaces and primary entrances to the school. This resulted in a safer and more welcoming landscape and campus open space system.
