Berry-Baker Library Addition

In April 1998, Dartmouth College began construction on the fifty million-dollar addition to the historic Baker Library. The Berry addition was the first step in implementing an expansion plan that would address the northerly expansion of the Dartmouth campus. Saucier + Flynn worked closely with the design team of Venturi Scott Brown and Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abbott to develop a landscape plan that set the stage for a seamless transition between the old and new campus. Saucier + Flynn developed an interim landscape plan that successfully resolved complex grading and drainage issues, pedestrian circulation, landscape planting, and also addressed the concerns of the abutters to insure an attractive and functional landscape until the development of master plan for northerly expansion could be completed.
