Whittemore Hall
Dartmouth College
Hanover, New Hampshire

To meet the housing need of mid-career executives enrolled in the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College, Goody Clancy & Associates of Boston was commissioned to design a residence hall that combined graduate student rooms, social spaces, distance learning facilities and recreational functions in a single building.

The building was situated on a steeply sloping site overlooking Tuck Drive, a historically significant open space that serves a critical link between the main campus and the College's land along the Connectict River.  A key element in the site design is a suspended plaza. Straddling an active loading dock, the plaza connects the new facility to Byrne Hall. An existing footbridge was woven into the design and forms the western edge of the plaza.
