Library Road Bridge
Saint Paul's School
Concord, New Hampshire
As part of a larger landscape improvement effort to the whole of Library Road, historic Library Road Bridge required major modifications to accommodate a new steam line routing system. Saucier + Flynn, Ltd. was called upon to provide the technical expertise to integrate the new system into the historically sensitive context. The modified bridge design demanded extensive grading, and new parapet and bulkhead walls. Serving as the major focal point of the roadway, it was imperative that the bridge not only function on its own both practically and aesthetically, but also that it retain and enhance the character of the existing Library Road streetscape. By thoughtfully directing drainage, lighting, circulation, and aesthetics, Saucier + Flynn was able to successfully knit the modified bridge back into the fabric of the greater historic Library Road landscape.
