Ashley's Landing Business Park Recreation Area
Claremont, New Hampshire

When the 46.2 acre Ashley’s Landing Business Park was created, it was determined that a portion of the property be set aside for local and regional recreational use. It was envisioned that conserving land for such use would make the business park a more desirable place to locate a business while also providing opportunity to enhance Claremont’s dynamic open space system and link two existing trail systems; the Connecticut River Birding Trail and the Connecticut River Heritage Trail.

To facilitate the development of the recreation area a picnic ground, interpretive trail system and a scenic overlook with a 20-car gravel parking lot was proposed on 11.8 acres of the property. The overlook provides wonderful views of the Connecticut River Valley and the picturesque mountains in Vermont. In addition, a picnic area will be established, defined by a low stone retaining wall and a small grove of trees with several picnic tables scattered underneath. Interpretive signage and benches would further enhance the visitor’s experience.
