Plainfield Service Memorial
Plainfield, New Hampshire
Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With freedom comes responsibility.” The citizens of Plainfield have long understood this and have never wavered in their obligation to shoulder the burden of freedom. Generations of citizens have proudly stepped forward to serve the cause of freedom in times of peace as well as in times of conflict. Working closely with Plainfield Memorial Committee, Saucier + Flynn created a conceptual plan depicting the design of a restrained yet dignified memorial. The stone, cut of New Hampshire granite, will be set in a garden beneath two large maples and will provide opportunity for civic celebration as well as quiet contemplation.
The following inscription shall be cut into the face of the stone:
In honor of all those citizens of Plainfield who have answered the call and served our nation in the cause of freedom.
